Well done for another busy week Reception!
This week our focus text was, ‘All Through the Night: People who work while we sleep’
As we shared this book, we thought about all of the busy people who do jobs throughout the night and how they help us. Lots of the children had friends or family members who do these jobs and enjoyed sharing their own experiences.
Lots of the children enjoyed looking closely at the pictures in this book and using their phonetic knowledge to add labels.
Phonics:
In phonics this week we continued to work on Unit 4 (d, e, f, v). Please remember to look back at last week’s blog for reminders from Mrs Woolridge around how to pronounce each sound.
If you would like to continue this learning at home try reading, building and writing the words-
van, vet, dog, fan and hen
Or the whole sentence-
The fat hen is red.
When sentence writing, don’t forget to start your sentence with a capital letter, include finger spaces between each word and add a full stop at the end.
In Maths, we have been looking at different arrangements and representations of the number 4. We watched clips from the Numberblocks episode ‘Stampolines’ and then had lots of fun printing our own 4 patterns.
We have all been enjoying our PE sessions! The children are working hard during these sessions and trying their best to listen to the instructions and learn new skills. The biggest challenge for most children in PE is getting themselves changed before and after the sessions. Please do continue to work with your child on these basic independence skills. Encouraging them to put their shoes and socks on independently, think about where they put their clothes when they take them off and starting to think about which way round to put t shirts etc. on would be a great start.
Next week, we will start to learn some of the songs for our Nativity. As we have for the past few years, our Nativity performance will be pre-recorded and sent out to families on the last week of term for you to enjoy watching together. We will be sending the children home with their lines to learn. Please enjoy learning your child’s line with them but do not worry too much if they are struggling to remember their words- this is the benefit of a pre-recorded show. We will support all children to say their lines as clearly as possible for the recording.
