Hello everyone!
Thank you for sharing pictures of your homes on tapestry, this has engaged exciting discussions in the classroom about what our houses look like, where they are and the special people who live in our homes!
This week, we have been reading the book ‘A World of Cities’ by James Brown and many of our children have loved sharing different countries and cities that they have visited and/or lived in!
In Phonics, we have been focusing on the sounds ‘d’, ‘v’, ‘f’ and ‘e’. To help your child at home, you could do some further practice of writing the words ‘cod’, ‘dog’, ‘get’ and ‘fit’. Please see further phonics guidance in the video below:
In Drawing Club, we read ‘Elephant Island’ by Leo Timmers and had a go at drawing our own islands! We learnt new words such as drifted, horizon, salvage and boisterous.
In Art, we have been focusing on craft skills using PVA glue, we have explored pouring, spreading and using PVA glue on different materials.
In Maths, we have been learning about ‘parts’ and ‘whole’, we have been playing I Spy to locate whole toys with different parts in the classroom e.g. ‘I spy with my little eye a whole toy that has 4 blue parts!’ – This could be a great game to play with little ones at home to help consolidate their learning of part and whole.
Next week, we will be exploring the text ‘All Through The Night’ by Polly Faber.
