We have been welcoming back our nursery children into the new term and welcoming some new starters with their families to Meadows!
Thank you for all your support and patience these past few weeks. Changes, transitions and starting a new nursery can be a bit unsettling for the little ones. (And Mrs Campbell also needs to learn a lot of new names:)
This week we floated up into the sky with our story of the week — Little Cloud by Eric Carle! 🌤️ The children loved following Little Cloud as he drifted across the sky, changing into fun shapes like a sheep, an airplane, and even a clown. After retelling the story, we talked about how clouds can look like so many different things if you use your imagination!
We went outside for some cloud spotting and back in the classroom, we brought the clouds inside with a fun hands-on activity — shaving foam clouds! The children used fluffy white shaving foam on trays to swirl, pat, and create their own soft clouds floating in the water tray.
During the next few weeks, we will be busy re-establishing our daily routines using transition songs, visual timetables and the chime bell. Why don’t you ask your child to teach you the Tidy up song using Makaton signs?
Please make sure, your child has labelled spare clothes, waterproofs and wellies at Nursery. We go out in all weather, and it has been very wet recently.
Looking for donations:
We are looking for a simple CD player, that children can use in our music area. Have you got one at home you no longer need?
We are continuously looking for scrap materials things for our craft table. Children are working hard on their fine motor skills with lots of tearing, cutting and sticking. Please donate small cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, milk bottle tops, scrap materials, old CDS, corks, buttons, ribbons and wool, old notebooks, scraps of paper to scribble on, lines, squares, plain, small and big. Please note we DO NOT TAKE: medicine boxes, toilet rolls and egg cartons.
