What an exciting week we’ve had in Nursery, filled with fun, learning, and discovery!
We explored the classic tale of The Three Little Pigs, which sparked lots of wonderful discussion about building and looking after each other when in trouble. The children enjoyed acting out the story, joining in with repeated phrases, building houses out of different materials and even singing songs inspired by the pigs and the big bad wolf! This week, we also did a lot of mixing. In our mud kitchen, we were mixing salt, sugar and oats with water to see what happens. We were discussing how things change and dissolve. Shaking our bottles we could observe that oil and glitter will always separate from water and will float on the top of it.
After weeks of careful observation, we finally said goodbye to our butterflies as we watched them fly away into the garden. The children were amazed to see the transformation and loved being part of their journey from caterpillar to butterfly.
We’ve started to learn about healthy eating, talking about which foods help our bodies grow strong. Together, we sorted foods into “good for us” and “not every day” categories, making links to what we eat at snack and lunchtime.
Our forest visit was a big hit! The children were brilliant little explorers, searching under logs and leaves for minibeasts like beetles, worms, and spiders. We talked about their habitats and how to care for the creatures we share our world with.
It’s been a week full of curiosity, creativity, and connection to nature—well done, Nursery!
