This week in Nursery, we’ve been busy exploring a mix of literacy, maths, music, and cultural learning, with a special focus on Hungarian Week!
The children enjoyed listening to and joining in with rhymes and stories to develop their vocabulary and phonological awareness! The story of the week was: Ms Armitage on wheels, by Quentin Blake! When Ms Armitage and her faithful dog Breakspear set off on a quiet bike ride to visit cousin Angela, she can’t stop thinking of ways to improve her bike. What an adventure!
At Maths corner (and everywhere really!) we focused on 2D shapes, learning to identify and describe shapes such as circles, squares, and triangles. The children had the oppotunity to listen to mathematical language such as sides, corners, same, and different, and linked shapes to real-life objects. We wonder which 2D shapes the children can spot at home or outside during the weekend! Why don’t you drop us a message on Tapestry to share their learning?
As part of our Understanding the World, we continued our ‘The Languages we speak’ project with a short but absolutely amazing Hungarian week! Special thanks to the parents who brought in delicious snacks for the children and Mrs Campbell for her mesmerizing dancing sessions! We all enjoyed them vey much! We have also started talking about the 3 Rs in Recycling to get prepared for next week and World Earth Day! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! What can you do to help our planet?
It’s been a fun, active, and creative week with lots of opportunities for learning through play! We can’t wait to see what the next week will bring!
