Our story this week has been ‘The Big Umbrella’ by Amy June Bates and Juniper Bates. The story is all about a big umbrella that provides shelter for everyone. Meadows have loved acting this out during carpet time, with lots of characters (including ballerinas and dogs) coming to fit underneath the big umbrella (our colourful parachute).
We have also been reading lots of Christmas stories, practicing our Christmas songs and getting ready for the festivities. This week we have started baking gingerbread biscuits in small groups. Every child will have to opportunity to bake with us during December and January and take home a delicious biscuit.
Cooking and baking at home together is a fantastic opportunity for children to master their skills of mixing, scooping, measuring and kneading. Upload a photo of you baking together onto Tapestry!
Cold Weather
We encourage the children to play outside throughout the winter. Please make sure children have LABELLED coats, hats and gloves to keep them warm. Thank you!
Donations
We welcome contributions of small boxes for junk modelling, Christmas paper, ribbon, cards, stickers, tags, etc.
Dates to remember
Family Friday is in the morning of 13th December. Parents are welcome in the class from 8.30 to look at our adventure books and join us for a Singalong starting promptly at 8.45. Please practice the songs posted on Tapestry.
Christmas Parties for children are during their sessions on 18th December. We welcome a small snack donation for this occasion, there is a sign up list near the door for this.
