We are all different, but we are all equal! Week 6 in Meadows has been all about celebrating our diversities!
We have been sharing the book: Hats of faith where brilliant images and mindful words are combined to describe the various religious head coverings and remind us of the richness of our cultural capital!
Inside, the children continued to discover aspects of black heritage and culture. We shared the story of the very brave Rosa Parks, we had fun analysing B. Zephaniah’s poem ‘Talking Turkeys’, we listened to Bob Marley’s song ‘3 Little birds’ and practised some Yoruba dancing moves! The children also created beautiful nature mandalas and engaged in beautiful leaf printing art!
During our key time we shared photos of the trusted adults we can speak to when we need help at school. We reminded the children that all the people in their safety circle are wearing a purple lanyard with their name and photo on it. We would encourage our lovely families to extend these conversations at home to support their child in finding a safe adult if they need help with anything.
Outside, the children have been cooking Autumn pies in the mud kitchen, playing hopscotch and enjoying listening games (identifying as many different sounds as they could)!
This week has also been our first focus week which means we have been closely monitoring and celebrating learning moments, sharing stories and talking about the favourite toys and types of play of our first 4 children! Keep an eye out for some special boxes which the focus children will be bringing at home this week! We can’t wait to see what the children will be filling them with!
