Story of the Week: Elmer and the Rainbow
This week in nursery we enjoyed the colourful story Elmer and the Rainbow. It inspired lots of lovely conversations about how and why rainbows appear and what makes colours unique. The children explored different colours through fun activities, including colour mixing, where they experimented with paints to see what new colours they could create.
We also tried puddle painting, splashing and painting outdoors while developing creativity and fine motor skills — and having plenty of fun along the way!
During our outdoor learning, we explored the winter forest, carefully looking for traces of animals and birds. The children were excited to spot signs of rabbits and listened closely to the sounds of nature around them.
In music time, we explored musical instruments, learning about rhythm and beats. We sang number songs, practising counting, turn-taking, and listening to one another.
It’s been a joyful week full of colour, creativity, music, and outdoor discovery! ✨
