We’ve had another great week of autumn exploration at Meadows Nursery!
We read a lovely story called ‘Pumpkin Soup‘ by Helen Couper about some friendly animals who worked together to create a tasty soup. The children have loved exploring the pumpkins outside and using the children’s hammers to see what happens when they hammer in the plastic pins. They then loved using them to make their own pumpkin soup in the outdoor mud kitchen area. Lots of fun messy play outside and exploring senses and textures! We have also been looking carefully at all the different pumpkins sizes, shapes and textures. Which ones are big and which ones are small, which is the biggest and which is the smallest? What do they hide inside of them? Thank you for all the lovely donations of pumpkins, it has been lovely to have such a good selection for the children to explore.
We have also been thinking more about our Bilingual story Ouch! about a hedgehog and we have been using lots of different materials in our arts and crafts corner to create pictures of prickly hedgehogs. We have also been thinking about spiders and creating our very own spider webs by threading some lovely threads to make the web shape.
This week we also talked about Diwali, which is the Festival of Lights, a time when people celebrate good over evil by lighting lamps, decorating homes, wearing new clothes and sharing festive food! Special thanks to our lovely parent who brought Diwali crafts for the children. They really enjoyed doing them!
We have been noticing the seasonal changes in our outdoor area and looking at the leaves on the ground and all the different colours they are. We also created our very own leaf prints using and mixing different colours!
As tomorrow we are closed for training purposes, we are wishing all our Meadows families a restful and joyful half term. Please can we remind you to bring in a wetsuit and welly boots if your child doesn’t already have them here.
