Our story this week is a sweet book called Owl babies by Martin Waddel. It tells us about owlets Sarah, Percy and Bill, who are waiting on a tree, huddled up, for their mummy to return from night hunting. They experience all sorts of emotions from excitement to fear, and finally relief, when the mummy owl comes back. It is a wonderful book to read during our settling period where children can experience anxiety and reassurance themselves.
Linking in with the story, we are looking at night animals and can settle in our dark then to see what it might be like a nocturnal animal. We have been also discovering dark and light changes using our colourful torches.
This week we have started our key group times where a small group of children do an activity with their key person. Our group time this week started with looking into a box with a mirror inside and discuss how special we all are. We then shared photos of our families, talked about the people at home who look after us and belong to our safety circle.
We have five key groups in Nursery – Snowdrops and Poppies with Mrs Campbell, Daisies and Buttercups with Ms Rodoula and Bluebells with Ms Phillips.
