We can’t believe it’s already the end of the term and the year, nearly!
In Meadows, we enjoyed a festive week, making lots of Christmas crafts and decorations like Christmas wreaths, spiral snowmen and salty snowflakes! The children practised their fine motor skills, squeezing bottles of glue, sticking sparkly embellishments and using scissors to create swirly crafts!
The story of the week was: The Snowman by Raymond Briggs, one of the world’s most popular and iconic picture books! The children were encouraged to use their imagination and tell this wordless story in their own words, by looking at a sequence of printed pictures! Wordless picture books offer numerous opportunities for language and early literacy skills to be developed and enhanced while deliberating the children’s imagination! Could we ask for anything more?
At our maths table we continued to build our hand-eye coordination by playing winter domino games, matching numerical snowmen cards and practicing our 1:1 correspondence with 5 white balls!
Our science investigation this week was about observing and painting ice! Questions like:
-How long will it take to melt completely?
-Will the paint penetrate the ice and colour it?
-What will happen if we put it back in the freezer or the oven?
sparked interesting and funny conversations with the children which kept them engaged and excited!
This week we also enjoyed lots of Christmassy treats during our festive snacks thanks to all your generous donations! We couldn’t feel more grateful for all the lovely parents and extended families we are working with!
