This week in Nursery has been full of festive winter excitement as we officially started our preparations for Christmas!
The book of the week was: In Our Hands by Lucy Farfort, which took us on a journey with a little girl who wanted to change the world as the ‘Dulling’ had already crawled everywhere and had turned everything grey. (Oh noooo!). We learned that the seed of hope can be grown by each one of us and it is never too late to make a change and turn this world into a better place! We also discussed how our feelings changed throughout the story and marked them on our very special emotions thermometer!
We enjoyed baking gingerbread man biscuits in key groups, which sparked lovely teamwork, discussions and some impeccable baking skills! How was your biscuit? Did you share it with anyone at home? More baking to follow next week!
This week we also continued investigating seasonal changes and exploring the natural world, with lots of conversation about winter weather and how animals adapt and hibernate.
Our maths focus was all about 2D shapes.The children had the opportunity to explore 2d shapes and create their very own objects using laminated cards and little (eeeek nearly) 2d shapes! Why don’t you ask your child at home to see how many shapes they can spot around? It could be a clock on the wall, a coin, a road sign and many many more!
The children have also been practicing their Christmas singing for our Christmas Celebration in the Nursery on 10/12 at 14:30. Please refer to the separate Tapestry post for more info! We can’t wait to have you all in the classroom and celebrate everything this festive season has to offer! During our last week we are going to have a small Christmas party with the children only so please keep an eye on the Nursery door next week for contributions of party food!
A kind reminder that Family Friday is next Friday, 12/12 at 14:30. You are welcome to join us in the Nursery to look at your child’s adventure book together and celebrate their learning!
