Welcome back Meadows and Happy New Year!
This last two weeks it has been lovely to see all of Meadows and to hear about their Christmas break.
In our class this term, we have introduced our new project – Weather. We have been looking at cold weather, snow and ice with the story of Snowballs, and next week we are reading about windy weather in Strom.
We have had frost and ice this week outside, children were very keen to explore these, using tools to collect them or break them. They have also sprinkled salt poured warm water over the frozen lumps to discover what is inside the ice when its melted. We were amazed how a very large piece of thin ice shattered on the ground when we dropped it.
Winter weather brings us amazing textures and patterns outdoors, send us a picture on Tapestry if you come across anything during your time spent outside over the weekend.
In our mathematical learning, we have been looking at using and saying numbers in our everyday language and feeling and recognising different shapes and textures in a feely bag.
This week we have read an extra book to our children by Lucy Fanford, In our hands.
While the story is for an older audience, children enjoyed having conversations about how they can feel sad and grey, and how things can make them happy, hopeful and colourful.

What would you put in a bottle for someone to find that can make them happy? Our children gave wonderful and funny answers, from rainbows to small kittens, dinosaurs and even a doughnut.

Bring us your RECYCLING for our craft table. Children have a free choice every day to make anything they wish at the craft table using tape, glue, feather, pieces of felt, buttons etc. So, we welcome your boxes all year long, but please NO boxes with NUTS, MEDICINES or EGGS in them originally.
