This week in nursery, the children had a wonderful time exploring emotions, language, and technology. We talked about how we feel, learned to recognise emotions in ourselves and others, and discussed ways to help our friends feel better.
Our focus story was Bunnies in a Boat by Philip Ardagh, a rhyming story full of adventure which inspired lots of discussion and imaginative play with soft bunnies and other animals.
The children also enjoyed daily singing, circle games, and music and movement activities. We played little Tommy Tattle Mouse where the children took turns to be Tommy in the middle of the circle and identified where the singing voice comes from and who it belongs to!
We also introduced our brilliant little robots, the Bee-Bots, for the second round this year! The children were reminded how to programme them while developing positional language such as “in front of,” “behind,” and “next to.” We also explored initial sounds in phonics, sang some music patterns in maths, and talked about different ways to travel during our Communication and Language sessions.
As usual, we continued out trip around the world, exploring the Italian language and culture with engaging hands on activities, songs and some Italian snacks! For more information on our Italian week, please follow our seperate Tapestry post!
Last but not least we followed the children’s lead and started exploring volcanoes! We wondered how the magma is created deep beneath the Earth’s crust and how it turns intO lava when the volcano erupts! We also, made our very own volcanoes using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar outside and worked on our fine motor skills using pipettes and little bottles to make them erupt!
