Welcome back everyone – we hope you had a wonderful half term break!
This week we were excited to begin our new project, All Creatures Great and Small. The children have already shown so much curiosity about the tiny creatures that share our world.
We enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and Superworm by Julia Donaldson. These stories inspired lots of wonderful conversations about lifecycles, minibeasts and heroes of the garden! The children especially loved joining in with repeated phrases and spotting the different creatures in the illustrations. We also listened out to the rhymes at the end of the verses. Have you got favourite story with rhyming words?
We took our learning outdoors and went digging for worms. There were squeals of excitement as we discovered wriggly worms in the soil! We carefully observed them and then made our very own wormery so we can continue watching how worms move through the earth.
Alongside our minibeast learning, we also celebrated Greek Week. The children tasted delicious feta scones and enjoyed some lively Greek dancing together – what fantastic moves!
Next week is World Book Week. On Thursday, please bring your favourite story to share with your friends. You can also upload a photo to Tapestry of your child reading at home. Perhaps you enjoy reading in a cosy den, at the table, or even under the table! We love seeing all the different ways you make reading special at home.
From next week, we will also begin our Focus Observations with Home Bunnies. Please look out for the Home Bunny post on Tapestry, which will include all the instructions.

As the weather continues to change, please remember to send your child with wellies and waterproofs every day so we can enjoy our outdoor learning whatever the weather brings. With sunnier days appearing too, sunhats are also important to keep in bags. We love being outside in all seasons, so being prepared helps us make the most of every day! 🌦️🌞
