This week we have started to look at trains as part of our transport theme for this term. We have loved making our own trains, being train conductors, drivers and writing our own train tickets! Our story for this week, ‘And the train goes…’ is a lovely book about what we might experience on a train journey, with lots of opportunities to make fun train sounds. On Wednesday we had a day full of outdoor learning, learning about ‘stick rules’ and finding our own sticks that we could then decorate or use in our play. Do you collect forest treasures when you are out and about? Why don’t you upload a photo of your collection or something that you make using sticks, leaves or feathers. Remember the NO PICK, NO LICK rule! We only pick treasures off the ground, not breaking flowers, twigs off trees. Also, we must not put anything in our mouth!

As part of our phonics learning at the moment we are learning to recognise syllables in words. We have been listening to the names of people in Meadows and clapping our names – can you do this at home with the names of your friends and family?

The weather can change a lot in May. Please make sure your child has named waterproof trousers and coats for rainy days.

We would also like you to bring named hats and sun cream for hot and sunny days. Suncream needs to be applied by you before arriving to nursery. We can supervise and model a second application of suncream after lunch, but children will need to do this by themselves. Please, teach them at home how to squeeze or spray the cream and apply it themselves.

Have a fantastic Bank Holiday Weekend!
