This week in nursery was filled with joy, learning and some very sunny days!
During key times and carpet times, the children explored both external and internal body parts. We talked about parts we can see, such as our hands, feet and faces, and also learned about important parts inside our bodies like the heart, brain and lungs. Through stories and discussions, the children began to understand what these body parts do and why they are important.
Music and movement were a big part of our week. The children sang familiar favourites such as Fishy Fishy, Ring a Ring o’ Roses, Incy Wincy Spider and I can sing a Rainbow. We also enjoyed movement games where children listened to different instruments or tried to imagine the actions and move according to the lyrics! These activities help develop listening skills, coordination and confidence.
World Book Day and Storytelling
Books and storytelling were at the heart of our week. For World Book Day, children were invited to turn into authors and create their own little books about mini beasts! We were amazed by their engagement and enthusiasm! Next week we will revisit these books to finalise them and share them with our friends! The story of the week was, as expected, Snail Trail by Ruth Brown! Things are not always as they seem in this delightful outdoor adventure.
Outside, we got inspired by our story of the week, and made our own obstacle courses with crates and big tyres while working on our gross motor skills! We also pretended we were in a train which was travelling through India, as a playful approach to our The Languages we speak project! Maths and Problem Solving
Maths learning included activities exploring more than and less than, as well as a fun challenge game called Beat the Clock, encouraging counting, comparison and problem-solving skills.
Next week we will be launching our oral hygiene project! How exciting! We invite all the children to come with their toothbrushes and toothpastes every day so we can practice together a good tooth brushing session after meals!
