It may have been a four-day week, but we have still fitted in a lot of exciting learning and activities.
In maths, we have progressed onto number bonds to 100 and how to use our related facts (number bonds to 10) to help us. If your child is not yet secure in their number bonds to 10 (4 + 6 = 10) and within ten (4 + 3 = 7) please support this at home through regular use of Numbots and Hit the Button (Topmarks). In English, children referred to their planning trees and have focused on making conscious choices about which details to include in their illustrations. They then went onto drafting intriguing introductions, practicing different openings and finally selecting their favourite to write up their introduction page.
In geography, the children have been learning about some key London landmarks. Can they name the nation’s tallest building? Do they know how many rooms Buckingham Palace has? What is the river that runs through London called? Next week, we will develop map reading skills by learning to read a grid reference.
