Caythorpe Residential – Day 1!
What an incredible first day we’ve had at Caythorpe!
After an excited (and slightly sleepy) coach journey, we arrived at the centre and were greeted by our friendly group leaders. Once we unloaded our bags, we had time to play on the field and enjoy the fresh air. Then we set off on a tour of the site to learn where everything is – from the dining hall to the activity zones. Lunch was a hearty helping of spaghetti bolognese, which gave us just the energy we needed for the afternoon ahead.
We jumped straight into our first activities: rock climbing, Survivor, problem solving, and scootering. It was amazing to see how brave and determined everyone was – especially those who overcame a fear of heights on the climbing wall! The Survivor activity challenged us to work as a team and think carefully about how to build shelter and stay safe in the wild. Problem solving made our brains work hard, and scootering gave us all a good laugh (and a chance to show off our moves!).
Dinner was delicious – we had a choice between curry and shepherd’s pie – and then we ended the evening in the best possible way: singing songs and roasting marshmallows around the campfire.
Everyone is happy, settled, and looking forward to more adventures tomorrow. We’re so proud of how much the children have challenged themselves already!
