Mrs Aliett Hernandez Cabrera

I am proud to be the Dragonflies Class Teacher at the University of Cambridge Primary School, where I also serve as the Curriculum Lead for Play. Before taking on my current role, I taught in Year 2 at the same school and prior to that, I spent five years teaching in Early Years settings. My teaching journey began over a decade ago in secondary schools, where I taught English Literature and developed a deep understanding of how language and literature shape young minds.

My academic background includes a degree in English Literature, a qualification in Early Years Education, a Level 3 in Psychology and Education and a Diploma in Special Educational Needs. I have a particular interest in cognitive development and behavioural psychology, which continues to inform my approach to inclusive, child-centred teaching. I am especially passionate about early education and its vital role in laying the foundation for lifelong learning and development.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading and writing poetry and I have a love for the outdoors. I often spend weekends cycling around Cambridge with my family. I also have a long-standing interest in martial arts, which I believe fosters discipline, focus and resilience, qualities I strive to nurture in the classroom as well.
